On Friday 19 April, we present Wordsworth’s Springtime Supper Club, with food by the amazing Linda Galloway of Daffodil Soup.
William Wordsworth (patron poet of all things Spring as well as lending his name to our road!!), described April perfectly when he wrote,
The spirit of enjoyment and desire,
And hopes and wishes, from all living things
Went circling, like a multitude of sounds.
Equally, chefs who cook seasonally adore Spring as it brings a new flavour palette to the kitchen after the dark winter months of root vegetables and cabbage!
The headline colour and flavour is green, all those bright new shoots of asparagus, peas and wild garlic and then there’s rhubarb, strawberries and cherries to perk up dessert plates.
What is a supper club exactly?
Well, it’s simply a gathering of people-who-like-people, around shared tables, to enjoy delicious food, wine and conversation. There is always a warm buzz and good humour, and at our supper clubs @stmatthiashall in Stoke Newington we add after-dinner entertainment, too. This is curated by our talented close-harmony friends the GaGa Ladies, and can include music, spoken word and drama but is guaranteed to amuse and delight.
The menu for this springtime spectacular (which according to Linda is subject to tweaking) but is astonishingly good value at £40pp for a 3 course meal and entertainment.
