A mix of British and Eastern European music incorporating Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Dvorak, Bartok and Kodaly, two unofficial national anthems, folksongs and a cimbalom.
We shall be accompanying Finn Anderson-Hendra as she plays the Dvorak Cello Concerto. Expect Nimrod as you’ve never heard it before, the beautiful sound of the cimbalom, and Chorus of Dissent trying to sing in Hungarian, in preparation for their Hungarian tour next year. Plus a massive orchestral sneeze!
Featuring soloist Daidree Tofano and the Elastic Band.
Directed by Ruth Whitehead.
This concert is Chorus of Dissent’s first towards the St Matthias’ Restoration Project, as we set ourselves the goal of raising £2.4 million pounds to ensure the church remains fit for purpose for the next 170 years.
It’s a miracle that the only grade 1 listed church in Stoke Newington is still here. It will take another miracle to keep it so, but we have hope and buckets of determination.
Doors and bar open 5pm, concert 5.30pm. Disabled access and toilets.
