23 June 2012 – Chorus of Dissent: a choir is born at St Mary’s Old Church
Popularly believed to be Stoke Newington’s first community choir open to all, Chorus of Dissent – the brainchild of local businesswoman financial advisor Ruth Whitehead – launches its career with Faure’s Requiem, plus Ruth’s own arrangement of Freddie Mercury’s “Somebody to love”. All proceeds to www.smartn16.org the campaign to convert St Mary’s Old Church into a versatile arts space for the people of Stoke Newington.
