Comments about our first full live concert have come flooding in. Here’s a selection…
“What an uplifting evening! The most dramatic rendering of The Creation I’ve ever heard. I loved the soloists, each producing a really committed performance, but a special word for the baritone, whose performance made me love what he was singing as much as he seemed to be enjoying it. The Strauss made my hair stand on end, and thank you for letting us hear the Mozart on such an instrument. The music has stayed with me all today, so thanks, then, for bringing us a such a vivid and passionate concert. Brava!” W
“Thank you for saving my sanity, and no doubt that of dozens of others last night, by giving us all such a joyous and exhilarating experience! It was my first outing to live music since before lockdown, and it couldn’t have been bettered. Fantastic programme, choir, band ( and conductor ! ) all on fine form, glorious warm sound and smiling faces …. TERRIFIC!!!!!
All the soloists were absolutely great – I particularly loved Daidree’s serenely expressive performance of that exquisite Strauss.” JT
“Congratulations Ruth and all for another terrifically successful concert. My friends enjoyed it and were suitably impressed at the standard of performances throughout. Well done everyone.” JW
“Such talent and dedication. A fitting full re=opening, Thanks to all but particularly Ruth for inspiration and holding it all together.” JS
“Thanks to all music-makers for an evening of wonderful music.” LW
“Thank you Ruth and team for an amazing experience. It’s an absolute pleasure and privilege to be able to sing with such incredible people. Huge thank you to everyone backstage. My family were enthralled throughout.” L
SOLD OUT
Chorus of Dissent and the Elastic Band join forces to present some of the most exuberant music ever written.
We have a particularly exciting set of soloists. Patricia Auchterlonie, Armen Boldy and Frazer Scott will be singing angelically in Haydn’s Creation, and Daidree Tofano will perform one of Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs.
We’re also thrilled to have our friends Krystal Tunnicliffe and Thomas Ang, and Finn Anderson-Hendra with us on fortepiano and cello respectively. Yes, we did say fortepiano, and yes, it’s different from the grand piano we’re used to. Come along to the concert to find out just how different!
It’s on Saturday 9 October 2021, 5.30pm, at Stokey’s only Grade I-listed building St Matthias Church, Wordsworth Road, London N16 8DD.
