Internationally-acclaimed composer/singer Clara Sanabras has chosen our stylish Dissenters’ Gallery (upstairs at St Matthias Hall) from which to launch her latest album Fugue to the Floating World with a live set.
Fresh from her collaboration withThe Kinks’ Sir Ray Davies, Clara is a tireless creator of new musical worlds. After her monumental rendition of the Shakespearean tale A Hum About Mine Ears, commissioned by Chorus of Dissent and performed at the Barbican with Britten Sinfonia in 2016, she has found a more meditative space in which to write Fugue, an album of confessional songs on the theme of escapism – due for official release in February 2019.
If you can’t wait until then do come to our sneak preview on 17 November. Clara will be playing with her full band – guitarist Jimmy Smyth, with whom she co-wrote the album, Ruth Goller on bass, and Dawne Adams on drums.
Also featuring a wonderful supper by Linda Galloway @Daffodil Soup, this will be a feast for all the senses. Doors and bar 6pm, Please be seated for the first set starting at 7.30pm. http://clarasanabras.co.uk/
