Join us on Saturday 5 October when Chorus of Dissent presents The Instinct of Hope – a concert of songs of unity, celebration and joy. Featuring the world premiere of new works by Clara Sanabras including new musical settings of works by Kipling, Parker and Clare – from where this concert gets its title.
We are also welcoming the incredible Tokaj Város Vegyeskara from Hungary, who Chorus of Dissent performed alongside during the Four Choirs Festival in Tokaj earlier in the year. Along with orchestra, the Elastic Band, and soloists including Clara Sanabras – soprano, Daidree Tofano – mezzo soprano, Brenton Spiteri – tenor and Thomas Nießer – bass we will be joined by guitarist Jimmy Smyth.
But that’s not all … on the 200th anniversary of its first performance we’ll be closing this concert with last movement from Beethoven’s ninth symphony. A thrilling, exuberant celebration of life; all the more powerful because it was written by a tired old man who couldn’t hear it. So we’ll be performing it very LOUDLY!
Directed and conducted by Ruth Whitehead.
